Arraigo social (social roots residence permit): a practical guide for 2026

Arraigo social (social roots residence permit) allows you to regularise your status after three years in Spain. We explain the requirements and how to prepare the file.

Person preparing the documentation for an arraigo social (social roots residence permit) application in Spain

Arraigo social (social roots residence permit) is a temporary residence authorisation for exceptional circumstances, aimed at foreigners who can prove continuous stay in Spain for at least three years.

The main requirements are: an employment contract of at least 30 hours a week (or sufficient financial means), a social integration report issued by social services, and a clean criminal record.

Proper documentation is key to avoiding requests for further evidence and delays. We support applicants from obtaining the report through to the resolution and the subsequent issuance of the TIE.
